Growing Hope Appeal

The Iona Community has embarked on two ambitious development projects, one on Iona and the other at the Camas Centre on Mull with a projected cost of £1,000,000.

Already over £850,000 of our target has been raised and the the Camas Centre, on Mull has benefited from a major refurbishment. With wind turbine and solar panels, the centre now offers safe and comfortable living accommodation for guests with
facilities upgraded for year-round staff use, the organic garden and native species woodland have been further developed to increase self-sufficiency and the centre is now more accessible for people with disabilities.

Welcome CentreHope thrives on hospitality. On Iona, the Community is now looking for finance from the wider community and grant making bodies to help increase the understanding of its vision, work and values among the day visitors and pilgrims to the Abbey and the island, and to extend its welcome to them.

The Iona Community is seeking help to improve the welcome to visitors to the Abbey and Island of Iona. This can be achieved by:

  • developing hospitality for day visitors to Iona
  • developing improved and imaginative ways of informing visitors about the Community's life, concerns and relationships to Iona and the Abbey.
  • improving the living conditions of the staff and volunteers who offer visitors a welcome on our behalf.

There is an old Gaelic greeting 'ceud mille failte' which means 100,000 welcomes. If we can raise £10 for every welcome we can reach our target of £1,000,000. Would you like to share in this welcome?
